My bamboo has wax on the end of the stalk to keep it from getting bigger Sad . I was just wondering if I took those off if it would keep growing? I want it to get taller. Please help me.

My lucky bamboo has the same thing. At first I thought it was to stop growth, but I don't think that's the reason. However I would leave it on if I were you, at least until you know for sure.

from what i've read, the wax on the end is to keep the plant healthy. when the stalk is cut they put wax on both ends to keep fungus from attacking it. i think it can still grow...but i'm not sure. although i have heard of some companies that grow lucky bamboo adding a chemical to the plant that stops growth. this may just be a nasty rumor.... not sure on that one either. if nothing else, when your plant grows leafy chutes off the sides and they get big enough, you can cut them off, place them in water, and they will grow their own roots. these little bamboos should be able to grow normally.
... i'm no expert. this is just what i've gathered from my internet research. hope it helps!

Removing the wax will not help starting growing! If a Lucky Bamboo once is cutted, the stem will not grow anymore.
Sorry, but that is a fact. Only the thrives will beautiful grow.

The wax is just for a better looking of the cutting shape!
