My new Lucky bamboo

Hi all, I feel glad to have bumped with this forum, my girlfirend just gave a small lucky bamboo, and I just was looking on the net about the caring and growing of it.

I cant post a picture of it right now, but I will as soon as I can.

After looking some pictures on the net, I find my lucky bamboo kinda pale green with a small patch of dark green under a leafy bud, I'm pondering about it's health status and what should I do to make all of him the dark green I have seen on all the pictures.

I have it on a 9cm height and 6 cm(~2.4") diameter vase with some colored glass pebbles and some colored sand on at the bottom. The lucky bamboo is 10cm(~4.0") tall and has a 7cm(~3") tall leafy bud. From what I have read I filled it with watter 1" from the base.

From what I have see and understood on some of the post, I should seal the top of the bamboo with wax, Am I right on this? I undertand it's to avoid fungus from invading my lucky bamboo. If it's right, how should I do it?


If I'm succesfull on raising this one I will get lots of them I'm amazed with this plant.

When we got this little bamboo I saw some of them planted on something that looked like jelly with bright full colors and it looked pretty good, I'm thinking on getting one planted on that, anyone knows anything about how it's affect the raising of the plants?
